Aata Halwa Recipe

Aata Halwa (Wheat Flour Halwa) Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup wheat flour (aata)

1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)

1 cup sugar

2 cups water

1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)

Chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios) for garnish

Instructions:

1. Prepare the sugar syrup:

In a saucepan, heat 2 cups of water.

Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves completely.

Once dissolved, let it simmer on low heat and keep it aside.

2. Roast the flour:

Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan on medium heat.

Add the wheat flour and stir continuously to avoid lumps.

Roast the flour in the ghee until it turns golden brown and gives a nutty aroma. This can take about 7-10 minutes.

3. Add sugar syrup:

Once the flour is well roasted, carefully add the hot sugar syrup to the flour mixture, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.

The mixture will bubble, so be cautious.

4. Cook the halwa:

Continue to stir the mixture until the water is absorbed and the halwa thickens.

Add cardamom powder and stir for an additional 1-2 minutes until the ghee starts to separate from the halwa.

5. Garnish and serve:

Once done, turn off the heat and garnish with chopped nuts.

Serve warm.

Enjoy your delicious and simple Aata Halwa!
